Axial flux motor

Axial flux motor

Axial flux motor has a different magnetic flux path than radial motor. Axial flux motors have a planar air gap, and their magnetic field direction is consistent with the motor axis. The core advantage of axial flux motors lies in their innovative structural design, where the rotor is placed on the side of the stator rather than inside the stator. This design allows for an increase in rotor diameter, thereby improving torque output and power density up to seven times that of traditional radial motors. In a straightforward sense, it has achieved the characteristics of small size, high power, and high torque, with special application requirements, and high efficiency, generally ranging from 82% to 99% of effective power.

Axial flux motors have not yet been mass-produced and applied due to their unique structure. Firstly, the processing and production of the stator core, which is made of rolled and pressed silicon steel sheets or powder metallurgy materials, have lower magnetic saturation strength than silicon steel sheets. Generally, high-power and high torque motors use silicon steel sheet stamping and winding. Our company has achieved various requirements for stator structure in stator core stamping and winding, such as double-sided stamping, parallel slots, parallel teeth, inner and outer diameter tooth top chamfers or R Angle, convenient to use flat wire enameled wire winding, followed by the rotor. The rotor structure requires high balance and strength, and its magnetic pulling force is more unbalanced than traditional radial motors. It requires the rotor to be wrapped with carbon fiber or injection molded to tightly wrap the magnet, and some use embedded and complex fixed structures. Furthermore, the assembly of structural forms such as dual stator single rotor and dual rotor single stator also requires special methods and fixtures. Once again, the solution to the heating problem of the motor, poor heat dissipation, and frequent use of water-cooled and oil cooled methods make its structure more complex, and its cost will also change.

In short, due to its high efficiency, small size, large torque, and high power density, axial flux motors are becoming increasingly widely used. In recent years, they have tended to develop in an explosive manner. Our company's disc type stator cores, stator components, and rotor components can meet various needs and applications, providing assistance for axial flux motors.
